Marketing tips! Is it time for a refresh during these challenging times?

It was an absolute pleasure to have the opportunity to share some marketing tips about how to define your brand messaging in times of uncertainty at GO Get Networking. Here are the key takeaways as a little reminder:

Clarify your brand proposition

How do you create value for your customers or clients?

This does not mean you have to be the cheapest in your sector, but it does mean that you ensure that you ‘add value’ throughout your offering:

e.g. – offer a ‘free consultation’ if you provide a service, or an ‘extended warranty’ if you provide a product.

These little touches can be the difference between your audience engaging with your business or someone else’s.

Know your audience

Who are you speaking to?

It’s vital that you know who you are targeting your marketing to, even if your target consumer audience reaches far and wide as each different activity will be applicable to a different audience.

E.g. If you are looking to speak to a GEN Z audience (born between 1995 & 2015), you would use a very different tone of voice as well as different marketing channels than you would if you were looking to reach ‘Baby Boomers’ (born between 1944 &1964).

Define your brand messaging

Undertake the activity to list 3 ‘differentiation pillars’. (What makes your offering different from your competitors?)

From this, develop your business tagline (a short, sharp sentence for your target audience to get a feel for what your brand is and what you promise to deliver).

From this, create your brand promise/elevator pitch.

A longer insight (around a paragraph) into what you do, why you do it and how you do it. It will also detail how your audience will benefit from engaging with your product or service.

Once you’ve established your brands messaging, pull together a strong marketing plan and get your business out there  (A route to market that’s mindful of how your audience may find you).

You’ve got your messaging sorted; you know who you are talking to so don’t sit in the office waiting for the phone to ring. Engage with the channels that you have decided will be great for reaching your target audience – Linked in, Instagram, Facebook, print advertising or networking. People buy from people so don’t be afraid to share your story.

Be Patient – building an engaged audience takes time.

It can be a lengthy process to build an engaged audience but remember consistency pays off, keep going and if needed tweak your narrative where needed. Review your messaging as often as possible to ensure it is still right for you and your business and be sure to carry out a minimum of a quarterly review of your marketing plan, as things change and evolve over time.

Good luck! If we can be of any further assistance with any of the above then please get in touch, we would be delighted to help.
